It's finally the end of November blues and we enter December - month of creativity, month of celebrations, month of forgiveness, month of charity, month of planning, and soo much more! But Autumn is still here and so are the 3 long weeks before we break for Christmas. What do I do to make it seem like a breeze?
1) Just like every other year, this year too I have taken part in the whole school secret Santa gift exchange. Who doesn't like receiving gifts, but I love gifting too which makes it even more exciting and fun! How it works?
a)You fill up the form circulated by the member of your school planning committee which would have details like name, your room no. and time/place where you would like your gift to be left in your absence.
b)After a weeks time, the names of the participants is placed a room and the secret Santas draw a name.
c)The secret Santa must buy 3-4 small gifts that give a clue to the person who their secret Santa is! Example Rachel gives Emma a bar of dark chocolate because Rachel LOVES dark chocolate.
d)Rachel secretly leaves gifts for Emma every few days during the next couple of weeks.
e)With each gift, Rachel includes a clue, a rhyme, a poem, a limerick to help Emma guess who her Secret Santa is.
Example (You can see the bar is set really low): --- Anything sweet makes me happy as a lark. --- But when it comes to chocolate, it better be dark.
f) Charlotte tries her best to figure out who is leaving her the gifts. f) Around the third week of December, all Secret Santas meet in the staff lounge to guess/exchange gifts with our Secret Santas.
2) Ideas for the decor in the school hallway
We put forth my creative best and turn every classroom look as festive as possible with all the jolly Christmas decoration ideas.
3)Have students write a thank you note for a fellow teacher or worker.
This never fails to put me and the respective person in an awesome mood. Being a stationary lover, I put my wonderful stationary in use including glitter pens, chisel markers, glitter tapes, colourful stamps, etc to create beautiful quotes and wishes with different calligraphy fonts. Students can make one and have it put up in a common area.
4)Make a note of one good thing that happened in the day.
End of the day I make sure to note down on a post-it one good thing that happened during the day. I make a cool anchor chart and pin it up there!
5)The in-laws
Haven't been able to spend much time with my in-laws for I have been skipping dinners and tea time. Festive time, guests and I have to interact with people who think your job is all about crafts and singing songs all day long.
So the last two months I have been coming home, putting up my best fake smile and going straight to my bedroom, for all I want to do is change into my most comfortable wear and fall asleep to Netflix. I have been making honest excuses about being busy writing lesson plans, filling mandatory online forms, reading emails which takes me a while for I have to read a couple of times more to finally being able to memorize everything that's going to happen in the coming weeks with the whole school secret Santa, concert practice, pattern day, grade level secret Santa, reports, thanks giving, and a zillion deadlines. Phew!
6) Class is getting serious.
Reports, deadlines, concert around the corner, so juggling like a madwomen with the limited time I get so I can strike them off quickly from my to do list.
7) Putting on oogles of weight but no worries!
With the weather getting a little cooler these days, my wardrobe has switched to long sleeve relatively warm tops which makes me look even fatter. Then with so many deadlines, in between concert practices and limited time for snack and lunch break or no breaks, this month has been super depressing. So I have been stuffing every morsel of the food down my throat. I sip on warm warm more often than ever. Apparently it helps loose weight, we will simply keep patience, think positive and have to wait and watch. Fingers crossed ! :)
Happy December!
Thank you mate for stopping by :)
Love the simplicity.
