A Friday Evening Routine As A Teacher!

I always get questions as to where do I get the time and the motivation to write blogs and touch upon my many hobbies whilst working full time. Especially because I wake up early at about 07:00am. That is early for me🥱

I have always been passionate about my hobbies😍 since childhood. As a kid I would collect stamps, coins, world notes, letters, postcards , antique pieces, pens, diaries, leaves, glass bottles, cartons, etc. Basically everything enough to build a ragpickers home but for me this was pure treasure. While in school, I got into a a habit of reading books, cooking, drawing, painting, writing letters and knitting since I also had it as one of my subjects. As an adult, I started creating comfortable spaces using wood, and writing short articles. Hobbies keep changing but I love to have what I call a ‘Current Mania’.

I don't call myself a professional but I consider my art pieces it to be quite bearable to look at :) You can check out more of my work in the ART section of my website.

School meetings take place in the evenings after 5:15. At about 4:30pm, I sit in my balcony soaking up the sun. Moderate exposure to sun boasts Vitamin D production which is so beneficial for our bones. Sitting in the sun for about 15minutes daily can do wonders for your skin. It also helps improve your overall health. I sip on coconut water or lemon juice as it keeps me hydrated.

Workouts in any form has always been a big stress buster for me for years now. Honestly working out is my favourite part of the day. Even if it means taking a walk and getting some air into my lungs. It helps me relieve all of my days stress. So school meetings finish by about 06:30pm and my husband works until late evening. This may sound less or insufficient, I usually walk for about 30 to 45 minutes daily. Due to the current situation, I don’t prefer to step out and manage my walks at home itself.

I love to feel relaxed and free. Personal self-care is an energy booster for me. So, I first lay aside those clothes , take a good wash or maybe a second shower. Totally in love with my new body scrub🥰 as it makes my skin feel so soft and hydrated. I then put on my most comfortable clothing, shorts and a loose t- shirt.

I then set eyes👀 for my target of the week. I set small, fun and realistic goals for myself every week. I‘ve managed to achieve all of my weekly goals so far. This weeks objective was to create 3 sets of stickers. It’s a new hobby which I’ve recently got hooked on to.

I have my meal cooked and made ready in the morning itself. Today I prepared myself tuna curry with some rice. After my dinner, I take a 15 minute walk and some fresh air in my balcony. It helps me clear my mind and feel lighter on my stomach, both very important for a good nights sleep.

This is how my evening routine looks like on most days except my goals keep changing. I think scheduling time blocks for the day, set dates with yourself. ‘Me time’ is the key to balance both work and personal interests.

I have many people around me curious about how teachers spend their evenings. I hope you liked my blog.
