Creating A Classroom Setup At Home!

This wasn’t an easy task for me considering I had to figure out a space first and let me tell you I have none at all. I can fit in absolutely nothing in my room at this time. I already have a chest of drawers, a mini cabinet, a large armoire, not to forget the queen size bed with a side table, a full length mirror and a fancy stool. Having said that, I personally knew that I needed a fully functional space that would help me to be in the right frame of mind, that made me feel excited whenever I entered to begin doing what I love the most ‘Teaching’! I began by choosing a comfortable space in my room and fortunately I had one but I needed to get rid of the furniture first that was already there. I remembered talking to my mum over the weekend where she stated she wanted to buy one and so we decided instead to drop it at my mums place. I later took the measurements and as per my requirements ordered for a work table from amazon.in

For those of you who are looking for perfect table this is the one! It’s DIY assembly but let me tell you it’s very sturdy, strong, the fittings are perfect, comes in different sizes and it’s super affordable.

Next, I needed to get the perfect chair which will aid in maintaining the right posture and be comfortable while sitting for long hours. I needed a chair that provided proper spinal support. Fortunately, I had one at my mums which I decided to pick up while transporting the alternate furniture piece. It also matched with the rest of the decor and fitted perfectly in the space available.

Before After

On my table you will find only the most imperative things including a laptop, whiteboard (one of the most important resource as I mentioned in my previous blog), marker, duster, pencil/pen stand, phone holder, phone, iPad, (since we use multiple devices for teaching ), container with student names, pointer and other resources that I would need for my class next day.

Since all of the above wouldn’t fit on the table , I fixed upon a plank of wood to be set above the table. At the same I didn’t want a permanent fixture but a temporary fitting, only until virtual teaching lasts. Simple DIY you can try at home using a wooden plank, your favourite colour paint and some jute thread as shown in the pictures below.

However, if you‘re stressed or if its too overwhelming for you, you don’t have the money or the time, this is absolutely not a necessity. It has some requirements and not everyone can afford these things. Teaching can be done while sitting on a bed, a couch or the floor. Hence I thought I would share some of the most affordable ways of creating a simple but functional space.

I hope you find this article useful. Drop me a message for any other information you would like me to share.

Chao! :)
